April through May of 2008

We certainly appreciate all of your patience with the construction at our library. The children’s wing should be finished during the month of April. After our relocation to the new area, we will begin to adjust our schedule and develop new plans for the children’s programming. We want our library to be a place where you enjoy spending time with your children.

Mondays with Cynthia

We are going to continue to have our Story Time for ages 5 and younger (with a caregiver) on Mondays from 10:45 – 11:15 A.M. The stories and learning activities are based on a seasonal or other fun theme. Sing and Dance time will be held from 11:30 – noon. In between those two activities, we encourage parents to select books and other materials to be checked out while the children participate in a group activity.

Tuesdays with Ms. Carolyn

Check the children’s programming calendar for Story Time activities on Tuesdays. Carolyn T. has volunteered to do “BIG BOOK” stories with her puppets several Tuesdays each month. Story Time will begin at 10:45 A.M. and end around 11:15 A.M. This activity is best suited for children 3 to 5 with a caregiver.

Wednesday with Miss Jaime

Miss Jaime will be our reader for Story Time one Wednesday each month. Most often she will join us the first Wednesday of the month, however there may be times when this will change. Please check the calendar as this will be the most up-to-date information. The Wednesday Story Times will also begin at 10:45 A.M. and are for ages 5 and younger with a caregiver.

NOTE : Due to the library closing on Wednesday, April 2, Miss Jaime will be here on Wednesday, April 16 th.

Students Ages 6 and Up!

While we realize that children 6 and up are quite busy with school and all of the activities that go along with school, we encourage all children to visit our library often. This summer, we will be planning many activities that will appeal to children of all ages. If you have any ideas or suggestions, please feel free to stop by and visit with Cynthia. As the Youth Services Coordinator, she would like to have you share your ideas with her.

We really miss our Teen Scene and would like to get it going again. We would also like to get some group activities started for elementary age students. Thank you.

B.G.Hennessy

Saturday, May 3rd - 10:30am - 12:30pm

B.G. Hennessy has always loved a good question... Does the world change when a baby is born? Do teachers get nervous the night before the first day of school? Do ornaments know when Christmas is coming? What would make someone "happy ever after?" Sometimes the questions are more practical... What are the Olympics? Why do you need so many trucks to build a road? For Hennessy, the fun of writing a book is in coming up with interesting answers.

To date, the Paradise Valley author has written nearly thirty endearing and well-loved children’s books. Hennessy will read from her books and share her insights with aspiring authors. Books will be available for purchase and signing.
