    An alphabetical list 264,000 links in over 180 categories to genealogical resources on the Internet. Learn how to research in other countries or use different types of records. There are even links to reading old handwriting as well as information on genealogy programs under software and computers. This is an excellent starting point for genealogy research on the Internet.

    Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System

    If you think you an ancestor who fought in the Civil War you can search by name for both Union and Confederate soldiers. The service information provided will allow you to order military and or pension records at the National Archives. History of regiments, prisoner of war records and cemetery records can also be searched.

    Ellis Island Passengers Lists

    Ellis Island passenger arrival records contain names of over 17 million people who immigrated through the Port of New York from 1892 to 1924. You must register but the search is free. For better search results try searching these records through StephenMorse’s One Step Web Page www.stevemorse.org. You can also find these records on Ancestry.com.

    Familysearch.org

    This is the website of the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah and is Sponsored by the LDS church.. You can search the Ancestral file, IGI, Pedigree Resource File, 1880 US census, 1881Candian and British Isle Census on the home page and then search millions of indexed and digitized records now available under their new “Record Search” prototype. Check the online catalog of materials available at the Family History Library. Many of the materials have been filmed and can be borrowed through your local Family History Center.

    Find a Grave

    Search more than 37 million grave records by name, birth date, death date or cemetery location. There is also a surname index or you can browse a cemetery if you think some of your ancestors might be buried there.

    Immigrant ships Transcribers Guild

    Search millions of names from over 10,000 passenger lists that have been transcribed by volunteers. Search by passenger’s name, captain’s name, name of the ship, port of arrival and ports of departure. Passenger lists cover a time span of 1600 to 1900.

    National Archives and Records Administration

    The National Archives website is a great way to plan a research trip to the National Archives in Washington D.C. or one of its 14 regional archives research rooms. Click on the link Genealogists/family historians on their home page to learn more about the types of records available at the National Archives and how to order them.

    Rootsweb

    Rootsweb is one of the oldest and largest free genealogical websites and is supported by Ancestry.com. There are free searchable databases and transcriptions of records submitted by other genealogy researchers. Search thousands of family trees that have been submitted by people through the World Connect Project. You can also connect with others researchers through surname lists, mailing list and message boards.

    U.S.Genweb Project

    A web site established by volunteers in 1996 that wanted to provide free access to Internet websites for genealogical research in every county in every state. Search for census, cemetery, marriage, birth, bible records and more at each county web sites. There is also a list of projects such as the tombstone transcription project, the archive project to transcribe public domain records and eve an Kidz project designed to help kids learn how to do genealogical research.

    Vital Records

    This site contains information, guidelines and printable forms for ordering birth, marriage, death and divorce records from states, counties and territories of the United States. There are also links to International Records from this website. Records can be order by mail or online through Vitalchek.

    WorldGenWeb

    The Worldgenweb is similar to UsGenweb.. It is divided into 11 world regions. Each region is divided into individual provinces, state or counties, (administrative terms may vary by country). Learn about available resources, maps, and get translation help. Some sites have transcribed records.

    Arizona Resources

    Arizona Genealogical Advisory Board

    This web site was created to help the genealogy societies in Arizona post and coordinate events statewide. There is a list of genealogy societies throughout the state with their contact information and location and meeting times. There is also a speaker’s bureau and calendar of events listing statewide and national genealogy seminars and events

    Arizona Genealogy birth and Death Certificates

    Search for Arizona birth certificates older than 75 years and death certificates older than 50 years. Original certificates are digitized and can be printed from this site.

    Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records

    The Genealogy Collection is located in the Research Library on the 3rd floor of the 1930’s edition of the State Capitol. It holds large non-circulating collection of approximately 20,000 titles of books and periodicals on genealogy covering all the states and some foreign countries. It has one of the largest genealogy book collections in the state. There is a large collection on immigration. Check the website for hours & directions.

    Mesa Arizona Regional Family History Center

    One of the two the largest LDS repositories outside of Salt Lake City, UT. It contains thousands of rolls of microfilm of documents and books covering the United States and the World. Microfilms not permanently held in this collection can be borrowed from the Family History Library in Salt Lake City and viewed in this facility. They also have an extensive collection of family histories.
